Parenting Classes

When there is trouble in a teenager’s life the entire family is involved. Therefore, family involvement is also crucial to the healing and restoration process. Parents play an irreplaceable roll in the life of their teens. The ministry of House of Hope is aimed at impacting the parents as well as their teens. Long term success in restoring teenagers is largely determined by a healthy family unit. House of Hope requires parental involvement through counseling, visitations and parenting classes.

House of Hope Northeast Indiana will soon be offering parenting classes for parents in conjunction with our non-residential counseling program.

Griselda – A Mother’s Story

When my husband was incarcerated everything seemed to be falling apart. My Children were doing poorly in school. I became depressed and unfortunately didn’t have the means to feed my children properly. When I called House of Hope Northeast Indiana I felt like they were waiting for my phone call. God surrounded me with His people. Everyone just wanted to share all they had with me. The day I had no food to give my children they offered to feed my family.

House of Hope connected me with people from area churches who didn’t know my family but blessed us with food, shelter, clothing, finances and even a van. I was blessed with the same love that Jesus would have given us when He walked on the earth. I kept asking, “Why if you don’t know me?” But, I always got the same response from each person, “Jesus spoke to my heart. You just need to praise and give Him honor”. I would say, “I don’t deserve any of these things!” They would just tell me, “None of us deserve it but He still loves us and wants us to have His blessings.”

House of Hope offered counseling for my family and I accepted. My counselor has helped me to deal with the depression, anger, frustration and many other negative emotions that I didn’t know were hindering me. Through my counselor, God has taught me that I don’t need to live with any of these lies that come from satan. Jesus has already paid the price! I know that other trials will come and there might be days when I feel like giving up but there is no way that I will ever step back. I have a choice and I am moving forward!

One thing Jesus has taught me is to be obedient and to trust in Him just as it says in Isaiah 49:8. “In the time of my favor, I will answer. On the day of salvation, I will help you.”
